Just Launched! Guidepost at Prosperity's Picco Program

Guidepost at Prosperity's Picco program offers children ages 10 weeks to 18 months the same nurturing Montessori classroom experience that our on-campus children receive, but in a warm and enriching home environment.

Guidepost Montessori at Prosperity in Charlotte, North Carolina is thrilled to introduce the opening of its very first Picco classroom designed for infants and toddlers ages 10 weeks to 18 months. Located just 10 minutes from the Guidepost at Prosperity campus, our newest Picco location offers the same nurturing Montessori classroom experience that our on-campus children receive, but in a warm and enriching home environment.

The Picco Experience: Montessori in a Prepared In-Home Environment

The Picco program provides a unique and innovative solution for parents seeking the benefits of a Montessori education for their infants and toddlers, in the comfort of a thoughtfully prepared in-home environment. Our Picco classrooms combine the intimacy of a nanny share—with smaller group sizes and a family-like environment—with the structure and developmental expertise of a school classroom. Like all Guidepost programs, Picco is designed to cater to the individual needs of each child, fostering independence, curiosity, and a love for learning from the very beginning.

Meet Patricia, Our Montessori Guide

At the heart of the Guidepost at Prosperity Picco program is Patricia, our lead guide, who brings over a decade of experience in early childhood education to the classroom. Patricia’s professional journey has been marked by a deep commitment to fostering the growth and development of young children; she earned her degree in early childhood development and she has worked as a nanny and in various childcare settings. A member of the Guidepost Montessori community for over a year and a half, Patricia has served as a floater in Nido (infant) and Children’s House (preschool) classrooms and was most recently a Children’s House lead guide.

Patricia is also a mother who appreciates the challenges and joys of parenthood, and who understands that forming a connection with parents is key to a successful experience for the children in her care. “As a mom, I know what it’s like — if a parent has questions or thoughts about anything, I will be here and I'm more than happy to talk with them,” Patricia shared. “I also have an open-door policy for parents; if you want to spend some time with your little one in the classroom and help get them settled, I welcome that. I really want for everyone — the children and the parents — to feel comfortable.”

Patricia is very excited to take on the role of lead guide for the new Picco classroom. "To me, it's amazing to see little minds grow and explore. To see that look of curiosity in their eyes that says, ‘I want to know more!’ — I love that!” We believe that her warm and caring approach coupled with her extensive experience will create an especially enriching environment for the children under her care.

  • Montessori Materials & Activities: Children in the program will have access to the full sequence of intentionally designed Montessori materials and activities, all designed to promote sensory exploration, motor skill development, and language acquisition.
  • Warm, Home-Like Environment: At Picco, we recognize the significance of creating an atmosphere where children feel safe, comfortable, and nurtured — much like they would feel in their own homes. Our in-home classrooms recreate the warmth and coziness of a home setting: we use soft lighting, warm colors, and familiar household items to make children feel at ease.
