Guidepost Montessori at Reston is located at the intersection of Great Falls and Reston, off Route 7 across from Georgetown Pike. We offer a diverse array of Montessori programs for students from preschool through kindergarten.

We are committed to providing a high-quality education that inspires each child's individual spirit of inquiry. We do this by creating an engaging environment where students have the opportunity to explore, discover, and develop skills through hands-on learning experiences.

At Guidepost Montessori, we offer a comprehensive academic program with rigorous standards in literacy and math as well as science and social studies. We are also pleased to offer a Spanish Immersion program and robust extended day care.

Our school community is committed to diversity and inclusivity. We welcome students of all backgrounds, cultures and abilities into our classrooms so that everyone can learn from one another.

Spanish Immersion Options

Children under the age of six absorb language effortlessly, which is why we are pleased to offer bilingual environments. In our Spanish Immersion program, children learn both Spanish and English literacy skills, however, the prevailing language spoken throughout the day is Spanish. The overall emphasis on Spanish rapidly increases fluency, as children feel naturally compelled to communicate with their Spanish-speaking guides. Changing the world, one student at a time

We are a school where children find the joy in learning — and thus make it possible for them to continue learning for the rest of their lives.

To think mathematically.
To solve problems.
To create things.
To encounter great literature that inspires their character development.
To build themselves as capable, efficacious beings.
To place themselves in history and in society.
To spark meaningful friendships and deep personal values that last a lifetime.

Our goal at Guidepost Montessori is to serve each individual child, to help them realize their limitless potential, and the opportunities they will have to create real and lasting change throughout their lifetime.

Hear from our Reston Families

I have finally found my second family with this Guidepost at Reston family. The most wonderful team of teachers and aids that any parent could ask for. All three of my children have attended school here, and two are still currently there. As a mom, when you finally find that place where you know your children are loved and cared for like they are at home, its the best feeling in the world. The teachers are true pros, I'm so impressed with their patience and trust of the kids. They teach independence, how to cope with big emotions, treating peers with respect, not to mention reading, writing, math, science, geography, cooking, cleaning, the list goes on and on. My 2 year old knows his whole alphabet, letter sounds, and hundreds of sight words. My 5 year old can multiply and divide. I'm updated daily with pictures and details on what took place that day. They offer lots of after school extracurricular activities as well. Just all around an amazing team. It feels like a family when I walk in the door.

"We are very happy and so is our son"

We are so very happy with Guidepost. We have been really blown away by the staff, the other families and the progress our son has made. His verbal skills are through the roof and has already learned all of his primary colors and starting to recognize numbers. The classrooms are calm and organized compared to the chaos we used to see at his previous daycare. We used to have at least a couple of incident reports a week of another child hitting or biting our son..... so far not a single one. Really a testament to the strong leadership and supported teachers at Guidepost.

Friends recently saw how our son clears his own place and how he uses please and thank you, and they have also made the decision to make the change to the Guidepost near them. We were nervous about the change, but now we wish we had done it sooner. We are very happy and so is our son.

"The teachers are exceptional"

I have been so happy with my experience here in the toddler and children’s house Spanish immersion program. The teachers are exceptional and treat the children with kindness and respect. The administrators do a really good job communicating with families and building a strong school community. It feels really good to drop off my kids here in the morning.

Stay connected to your child's learning

Thanks to our app Transparent Classroom, you get a window into your child’s experience of school daily.

Your child’s Lead Guide will share what your child is learning and what their real-time assessments are - this way you can very closely follow your child’s development throughout the day, months, and years you stay within the Guidepost network. If you transfer from one of our locations to the next, your child’s progress and continuity will be tracked in the app and readily accessible. Read more about Transparent Classroom here.

In this app you will see important notes and milestones such as:

  • Daily toileting, eating (bottle feeding for infants), and sleeping habits
  • Curriculum introduction, progress, and completion
  • End of day summary of all activities
  • Notes such as bringing in more diapers or a new set of clothes
