How is the Guidepost Montessori approach different from conventional education?

At Guidepost, we join with parents on their mission to help their child grow and live well. Together, we design an education to empower each child to build the knowledge, skills, and confidence she needs to craft an independent, flourishing life.

Though there are many differences between the conventional approach and Guidepost, here are some of the most important:

Conventional Education vs Guidepost Montessori
What is the Guidepost Mission?

At Guidepost, our mission is to support each child in achieving her own independence. To do this, we help her gain the knowledge, build the skills, and craft the personal character she needs to flourish. Above all, our goal is to cultivate joy—in the pursuit of knowledge, in effort applied to work worth doing, in the achievements of herself and others, and in taking the steps to author her own life.

Learn about the key milestones we support—from infancy through high school.

Read more about why we educate for independence, and how we support independence for infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and elementary-age children.

What are the outcomes of your programs?

Montessori education is known world-wide for having positive impacts on both academics and social and emotional skills.

At Guidepost Montessori, when we design an environment to meet the developmental needs and interests of children alongside personalized care and support, the child can learn advanced skills at an accelerated pace.

Our students, for example, regularly learn to read by the time they’re 4-years-old and can perform all four math operations with 4-digit numbers by the end of their Kindergarten year.

The language and math skills of our kindergartners are on a par with what children in conventional programs learn in 3rd grade or beyond! What’s more, our students learn advanced academics joyfully—while simultaneously developing deep focus, self-discipline, and positive social skills.

Do your programs include Kindergarten?

Yes! The third year of our Children’s House program, designed for 3- to 6-year-olds, is the capstone kindergarten year. In this year, the child has been well-prepared to experience an explosion of literacy, learn advanced math concepts, and use her hard-won ability to focus, problem-solve, and persist through challenges to then make advanced gains across the curriculum. Children who continue with Guidepost through Kindergarten are often well-ahead of their peers when they enter 1st grade.

Learn more about the next exciting stage: the Guidepost elementary program.

Following elementary, students continue on to our Montessori middle and high school, the Academy of Thought & Industry: a school that combines a classical liberal arts emphasis on history and great books, and a Montessori emphasis on independence and agency.

How does Guidepost partner with parents?

At Guidepost, we want to make the best education the best for children and parents. This is why we provide year-round, extended-day programming at no extra cost, enabling consistent and uninterrupted access to the care and developmental support parents expect. We invite you into your child’s world—with daily photo and video updates, regular milestone meetings, and parent-child events that showcase your child’s progress. We work to understand your unique context and needs, so that we can provide support for milestones at home as well as at school.

In everything we do, we strive to cultivate joy as you watch your child grow!

We are incredibly grateful and excited to have found this daycare for our child, who started attending in August of this year. From the beginning, the experience has been nothing short of wonderful. The Director is exceptionally kind, patient, and thorough in explaining the program. He goes above and beyond to work with families, ensuring that each child receives the best possible care and education. The staff is consistently warm and welcoming every time I drop off and pick up my child, creating an environment that feels both nurturing and supportive. The Montessori setting, combined with the fact that all staff members undergo extensive trainirng in Montessori-style learning, makes this daycare stand out. The high retention rate among the staff speaks volumes about the positive atmosphere and dedication to quality education. Some of the standout features include the twice-monthly Parents’ Night Out, weekly and monthly newsletters, daily pictures, and updates (depending on the age group). The informative emails offer excellent guidance for parents on how to incorporate Montessori principles at home. Additionally, the variety of extracurricular activities for all age groups—such as piano, Spanish, dance, and sports—truly enriches the children’s experience. These are just a few of the things that make this daycare exceptional. We couldn’t be happier with our decision!

my daughter attended another location at guidepost and when it flooded last winter due to the crazy storm and bursting the pipe, they were able to move students to the round rock school. my daughter was able to go to that location as well as another one during the flood. Mr. Tim and Ms. Bo were really great. they made us feel right at home and Ms. Desiree her guide was awesome! She also got to go with Ms. Shree who is also amazing. everyone is amazing there, really. If i lived closer to Round rock i would send my kids there but we just live closer to cedar park. great school!

Highly recommended school for infants/ toddlers. I toured several schools before concluding Guidepost at Round Rock is the best for my child. Mr. Tim, the school director, showed us around and explained the process and also showed pictures from classrooms of how each child is cared for. I am strongly impressed my the tidiness of the school. Shout out to my toddler's class guides - Ms. Shree and Ms. Ursula who go above and beyond to look after my toddler and always prompt in providing daily feedback along with pictures. I am amazed with the fact that Mr. Tim and all teachers know names of all the kids in the school! I haven't seen this anywhere else before. Looking at my child's progress many of my friends have enrolled their kids at this location. I strongly recommend to visit this facility to experience it yourselves.

We have had an exceptional experience at Guidepost Montessori! Our child has absolutely thrived here, and we couldn’t be more grateful for the nurturing and supportive environment. The principal, Mr. Tim, is outstanding. He truly understands the Montessori philosophy and works hard to ensure that each child’s individual needs are met. We’ve seen remarkable growth in our child’s independence, confidence, and curiosity under his leadership. The front desk staff also deserves special recognition—they are always warm, welcoming, and extremely helpful. They know our child by name, and their kindness makes the drop-off and pick-up process a breeze. Our child comes home excited every day, sharing stories about new discoveries and projects. It’s clear that the teachers and staff go above and beyond to make learning engaging and meaningful. We feel so fortunate to be part of this community and highly recommend Guidepost Montessori for any family looking for a caring and enriching environment for their child!

From the moment we stepped through their doors, we knew we had found a place where our children would flourish. With our youngest enrolled, we have been fortunate enough to witness the nurturing care provided by Mrs. Daryl, our baby’s teacher. Her professionalism and extensive experience shine through in every interaction. Mrs. Daryl's dedication to each child's development is evident, and her genuine love for what she does makes it feel like entrusting our child to a trusted family member. The center itself is a vibrant and welcoming space, designed to stimulate young minds and encourage exploration. From the carefully curated learning materials to the safe and nurturing environment, Guidepost Round-stock exceeds expectations at every turn. What sets Guidepost Round-Rock apart is not just the quality of care, but the sense of community they foster. Well trained teachers and thoughtful syllabus. My kid loves this place and he is also learning very fast, we were initially concerned about moving him out of daycare into Montessori but right from first day he fit right in. The teachers are attentive to his needs at the same time making sure he is growing and learning. They also organize parents night out events every month, which are more convenient for us to drop off our little one with his friends and have date nights.

We have been sending our toddler since he was 1 year old in here. He was first with the nido program w/ Ms Leela. We moved him from another daycare where he used to constantly cry and would be put on pacifier and ear infections. After the transition Ms Leela and her team was able to keep him without pacifiers and that reduced the infections and that improved engagement and independence. During his toddler transition, we requested to be in Ms Shree s class owing to language transition help, and the team was very accommodating. Her team including Ms Desiree, Ms Ursula, Ms Lisa and all the other floating guides were really helpful in developing his language skills and independence. Their love for children and personal care is excellent and keeps me out of fears dropping my kid at daycare.
