A Letter from the Head of School

Thank you for your interest in our new Guidepost Montessori at Rockville! I first discovered that the methods and philosophies of Montessori are aligned with my own personal and professional beliefs as an educator when witnessing a child being educated at home. Now, I am a true believer in the power of Montessori to transform lives. At our school, we care for the children as if they are our own, and strive to meet individual families’ needs.

I know firsthand how important it is to start kids off on the right foot by encouraging their sense of agency and instilling a love of learning. Starting from nursery-aged infants of just six weeks to preschool and kindergarten children, each age offers its own unique set of developmental milestones, which the Montessori method addresses.

Infants get opportunities to work on their gross motor skills, while older children start exploring materials designed to help them learn to read, write, and do math problems - frequently before the age of four! All of this learning goes on in what we call the “prepared environment:” a space that is clean, bright, calm, and warm, where children truly thrive  -  and with our guides (teachers) ready to give a helping hand.

Montessori education is for more than just preschool-aged children: kindergarten and elementary school-aged kids also benefit from our methodology, and our Children's House provides impressive benefits for learning. Learn more about the difference between Children's House and elementary school education here.

The best way to understand just how different we are from other nurseries, daycares, preschools, and kindergartens in and around Rockville is to tour our school and see for yourself. I hope to see you soon!

" A safe place for our child to grow and learn"

"From the first tour to the parent/teacher conference we have loved our experience so far at Guidepost. The teachers are loving and warm, the admin is professional and caring, and the school is brand new - a great environment to send a child to school for the first time. We were nervous about the transition, but our toddler looks forward to seeing his friends and teachers every day. We feel lucky to have a safe place for our child to grow and learn." -Rebecca K., Guidepost Montessori at Rockville Parent.

If you transfer from one of our locations to the next, your child’s progress and continuity will be tracked in the app and readily accessible. Read more about Transparent Classroom here.

In this app you will see important notes and milestones such as:

  • Daily toileting, eating (bottle feeding for infants), and sleeping habits
  • Curriculum introduction, progress, and completion
  • End of day summary of all activities
  • Notes such as bringing in more diapers or a new set of clothes
